How to Prepare for the Digital SAT
Bluebook App and Device Readiness
Before the test day, make sure to download and test the digital testing application - Bluebook app on your chosen test device, following the guide by the proctor's instructions. Bluebook supports Mac, Windows, iPads, and school-managed Chromebooks. Ensure your chosen device aligns with the required specifications. For a smoother testing experience, familiarize yourself with the Bluebook App by practicing the free tests on the app.
The Bluebook app tracks time for each section, enabling flexibility within the module structure. Breaks are scheduled, but unscheduled breaks are possible at the expense of testing time.
If you encounter difficulties accessing a compatible device, you can borrow or request one from the test center or the College Board.
New SAT Test Formats
The upcoming digital SAT has undergone significant changes, aiming to streamline the test experience. Clocking in at just over two hours, this test is adaptive, adjusting difficulty based on your performance.
Starting with a moderate section, subsequent parts vary in challenge based on how you fare—each question carries significant weight, impacting your final score. The shorter test duration aims to alleviate endurance concerns.
Moreover, the Reading and Writing sections now feature shorter passages and simpler questions spanning various literary genres, making it easier to digest the content. The test introduces fresh question types, evaluating critical-thinking skills in diverse scenarios.
Another notable addition to the digital SAT is the allowance of calculators throughout the Math sections, a departure from the previous restrictions.
Digital SAT vs Paper SAT changes:
1. Test Duration
The new SAT format lasts 2 hours and 15 minutes, a notable reduction from the 3 hours and 15 minutes of the traditional exam.
2. Reduced to Two Sections
While the old SAT comprised three sections—reading, writing, and math—the digital SAT consolidates these into two sections: reading and writing, and math.
3. Quicker Results
Notably, students undertaking the digital SAT receive their scores within a few days post-exam, a substantial departure from the five-week waiting period associated with the traditional format.

Student Feedback
In general, the feedback is positive from students who took the official international digital SAT exams.
These students noted a smoother shift and decreased stress due to the test's shorter duration. Any minor technological hurdles, such as connection issues or app issues, didn't hinder the examination process, thanks to adeptly trained proctors utilizing digital tools for supervision.
Many students commented that the first module is notably easy while the 2nd module is considerably harder. Some students felt the break time is not necessary.
Success in the adaptive format relies on thorough preparation, especially regarding pacing within the second module. It is highly recommended to seek guidance from tutors or consultants due to the limited practice resources.
