Creative writing competitions are an excellent opportunity for students to demonstrate their intellectual drive, writing skills, and creative talent. Not only do students enhance crucial skills through participation in competitions, but winning an award can bolster a college application profile. This course is designed to guide students in completing a writing piece that can be submitted to various competitions. Students will be taught the fundamentals of creative writing, ranging from short stories to poetry, and the minute techniques required to successfully craft a competition-ready piece. The competitions that are targeted include but are not limited to the prestigious YoungArts, National Society of High School Scholars, and the Scholastic Arts and Writing Competition.
